Otago Mayoral Forum - August 2025

For its final meeting of the triennium, the Forum hosted five Otago-based and Otago-representative Members of Parliament, farewelled two retiring members, and heard from officials at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora about health system developments in the region.

Forum highlights

Triennium retrospective

  • The Forum was invited to reflect on the triennium as it neared its conclusion, with a view to the triennium to come. A summary of activities, guests and correspondence is included with the agenda papers.

Members of Parliament

  • All Otago-representative and Otago-based members of parliament were invited to join the final Forum meeting of the triennium. Attending were Hon Mark Patterson, Hon Rachel Brooking, Todd Stephenson MP, Joseph Mooney MP, and Ingrid Leary MP.

Health system developments

  • Dr David Gow, Chief Medical Advisor and Te Waipounamu Regional Lead, and Aroha Metcalf, Group Manager Integration, Planning Funding and Outcomes, Health NZ, joined the Forum to provide an update on health system developments including Clinical Service Planning, Queenstown Lakes and Central Otago; the Southern System Network Delivery Plan; and New Dunedin Hospital. Members of Parliament attending the meeting were invited to remain for this item to connect central and local government perspectives.
