Forum highlights

Rachel Brooking MP and Glen Bennett MP

• The Forum hosted Dunedin MP Rachel Brooking as part of an ongoing initiative to build relationships with Otago-based and Otago-representative Members of Parliament. Labour list MP Glen Bennett also joined the conversation.

Otago and Southland water services delivery

• Members of the Southland Mayoral Forum joined the meeting online. The two Forums endorsed high-level objectives for ongoing work on water services delivery. Members agreed to share information with elected members across the two regions and relay any feedback.

New Dunedin Hospital

• Blake Lepper, Head of Infrastructure Delivery, Health New Zealand|Te Whatu Ora, met with the Forum to update members on the New Dunedin Hospital project.

Regional deals 

• The Forum discussed the Government recent Regional Deals Strategic Framework, noting in particular that both regional and sub-regional deals are allowable under the framework. Further investigation will be necessary to understand the opportunities ahead.
