In June, the Forum hosted Otago and Southland Director of Education Julie Anderson and had a visit from Business South Chief Executive Mike Collins. As in March, members of the Southland Mayoral Forum attended part of the meeting online to discuss water services delivery.
Forum highlights
Otago and Southland water services delivery

Members of the Southland Mayoral Forum joined the meeting online and the two Forums agreed to a programme of work to look into options for working together on water services delivery.
Regional Public Service Commissioner and Education
- Julie Anderson, Ministry of Education, joined the Forum to discuss education matters, with a focus on school attendance and engagement. She was joined were joined by Regional Public Service Commissioner, Steph Voight, as part of the Forum’s commitment to a joined-up public service in Otago.
Business South
- Mike Collins, Chief Executive at Business South, attended the Forum to discuss business and the economy in Otago.
Advocacy, regional economic development, and regional/city deals
- In the light of Mr Collins's visit, the Forum took the opportunity to discuss how Otago's Councils can advocate and work together in anticipation of regional/city deals and related economic development opportunities.
